We are a community of young
and old, black and white, gay and straight, with differing
perspectives and interests committed to caring for one another
in times of joy and sorrow. We have fun through potlucks and
fellowship gatherings at church, meals in one another's homes, and
our annual all-church retreat. We support each other during times of
illness, grief and struggle.
We are also a community
that serves the world beyond the walls of our church. We are
committed to social justice:
-
working
to end hunger,
-
promoting
peace, and
-
advocating
for civil rights and equal access.
-
We engage in hands-on outreach,
staffing a local food bank, gleaning produce from farm fields for
the hungry, providing meals for seniors, building houses through
Habitat for Humanity, and holding a yearly Alternative Gift Market
(with all monetary proceeds going back to the native artisans) that
enables friends and neighbors to "buy with a conscience".
