Vision & Values

Core Values

  • Spiritual depth and intellectual integrity
  • Worship, education, and outreach that transforms people and society
  • Social justice, diversity, and love of neighbor
  • Being open and affirming to everyone--without exception
  • Belief that these values are embodied in the life of Jesus

Vision

We have a vision of what Park Hill Congregational Church will look like and be like in 5 years. We will be a bolder faith community built on a reclaimed history with renewed purpose. We will be a community of spiritual growth and consequently one of increased membership, diversity, attendance, participation, stewardship, programs and staff.

We will have radically transformed our current programs and governance structure and will now be spending most of our time on mission and ministry. We will examine everything we do through the lens of mission and ministry.

By transforming worship, education, youth and social justice programs, and reducing energy spent on our building, in five years we will have
  • Worship that engages the spirit and mind and moves us to action
  • Creative music of many styles that inspires all generations to sing
  • A commitment to radical hospitality in facility, worship, and programming
  • Education for all ages that grounds us in basic understandings of our faith and challenges us to think about God and the world in new and imaginative ways
  • Youth ministry, fueled by our youths’ passion and creativity, that values spiritual formation and engages in multiple opportunities for service
  • Social justice programs that are fully integrated into all areas of church life and which both empower individuals in their daily lives and originate communal projects
  • Staffing patterns that not only serve our needs but which help us engage our community more intentionally
  • Governance structure that frees people to engage in bold and transformational ministry
  • A multi-use building that fully meets the needs of PHCC and the larger community, of which we may no longer be the primary landlord and which may be owned and managed in partnership with other groups with similar values
