Every year in November we host and organize a
market to sell goods from non-profit groups and artisan
cooperatives. It is all volunteer labor and 100% of the profits are
sent back to the groups. It is an excellent way to redistribute
wealth. And for holiday gift buyers to shop with a conscience.
Products at the Market have come from such groups
as Women’s Bean Project, Ten Thousand Villages, Friends of Sabeel,
Beads for Life, Silks of Laos, Servv, A Greater Gift, Heifer
Project, Mayan Weavers, and more, such as jewelry made by local
Somali Bantu Refugees.
In 2008, we collected $11,000 for the benefit of
these groups.
The 2009 Fair Trade Gift Market will be Friday-Sunday, November
6-8.
Friday - 3pm - 7 pm
Saturay - 9am - 4pm
Sunday - 11:30am - 3 pm
